Norwegian 100 year old mystery is about to be solved!

100 year old package is about to be opened in nearly 100 years of sleep. This is a mysterious brown package unopened at the municipal building in Sel, Norway. But on Friday, it may be opened in accordance with the donor’s wishes.

Curious Norwegians will then finally get to know what is in one of the country’s best kept mysteries. For nearly 100 years ago the former President John Nygaard left a package, wrapped in brown paper, three kilograms heavy, 40 centimeters long and 28 wide, tied up with paper string to Sels municipality.

Attached to it is the squiggly handwriting, it is written that the package should not be opened until 2012. Now here is why I started to wonder? Why 2012? Yet again this mysterious date. Anyway, since delivered the package has survived two world wars, moved around several times, and survived at least one trip into the trash.

Somebody is hoping for more oil shares maybe?

Lately it has been at a stand at one of Gudbrandsdalens museum. The municipality in SEL now have their fingers crossed that it will contain oil shares.

-We can only hope that it`s the stock certificates from a U.S. oil company, said municipal chairman Dag Erik Pryhn optimistic to NRK. Who knows…
