Nick Pope – The Voice Of Reason
by Ray Alex with special permission from Nick Pope
First i have to say that I trust the Pope! because the Pope I’m referring to is a man i have admired for quite a while now, He has written four highly successful books on UFO’s, of which my favorites are ” Operation Thunder Child and Operation Lightning Strike” and he has appeared on television and radio all over the world. In fact, Nick Pope is probably one of the best known UFO investigators on the planet. Nick Pope have appeared on various medias the past ten years or so, but what has he contributed with? One thing that catched my interest about him was, that he always seem to be close in touch with his inner voice of reason. That is a really great quality. Never let your self be carried away without first consulting your own voice of reason. Meaning if it isnt a UFO you have the explanation, and so be it facts established. But if NO other explanation IS possible then it is a UFO. “My own experince fall under that statement” anyway this seems to be Nick Pope`s guiding star and i admire him for it.
If i was to rank Mr Pope, it would be in the same high ranking league “according to me that is” as Richard M Dolan or John E. Mack and David Sereda, David Wilcock and off course Michael Schratt, yet Mr Pope is the only official UFO investigator employed by the British government who has ever ever gone out in public for the record. Nick Pope has always struck me to be an honest open man, who always tried to tell it as it was:. Mr Pope do believe that a small percentage of UFOs are extraterrestrial in origin. However, he does not think that the MoD is or was hiding firm evidence of an “other world” presence. Rather he believed, that the MoD had a lot of reports, some of significant importance, some less, but nothing substantial that could be held up as THE definitive proof for the unbelievers. Nick Pope has always since leaving the MOD made it clear and spelled out his beliefs, and his opinions and clearly shown proof of his incredible insider knowledge.
Nick Pope used to run the British Government’s UFO project at the Ministry of Defense. Initially skeptical, his research and investigation into the UFO phenomenon and access to classified government files on the subject soon convinced him that the phenomenon raised important defense and national security issues, especially when the witnesses were military pilots or where UFOs were tracked on radar with none or very thin explanations. Some of my colleagues don’t trust Pope because of his government involvement, but it’s my STRONG belief that Pope is a real straight player. However i do know that Mr Pope has stated that,
“Many UFO researchers believe that information about UFOs is being covered up. They see a vast conspiracy to keep the truth from the public. Nothing could be further from the truth. Requests concerning UFOs are among the most frequently submitted under the Freedom of Information Act and the MOD has made great efforts to be as helpful as possible”
This could be due to the fact that NOBODY can do anything about these Unidentified Flying Objects at all, they are simply owned by them and out maneuvered in every way. So therefore in the shadow of shame it can appear that some Governments are hiding knowledge about these craft`s. Because they can not and will not admit, that they ” have no clue” what to do about it. At least that`s what i think sometimes!
The Rendlesham Forest UFO incident, is one of the most heralded and documented UFO cases in our history. At the twin bases of Bentwaters / Woodbridge, several nights in late December, 1980, the bases was visited by craft not of this world. These craft landed in the Rendlesham Forest, and were seen, filmed, and even touched by military personnel. It was also reported that there was direct contact with alien entities. In the recent Interview with Nick Pope, this case is discussed in detail. Mr Pope is one of the preeminent UFO researchers in the U K, and has worked with the government’s UFO group of study for many years. See what he says in this interview, online.
My personal and one of the first interviews i saw with Mr Pope, was about the “Erie UFOs,” a series of strange lights witnessed for several consecutive nights over Lake Erie Nick Mr Pope here Comments on Cleveland UFO Sightings. As always hard facts is demanded and real questions asked!
Some Additional Background Info About Nick Pope
Nick Pope here to the left, was employed at the MoD’s “UFO office” in the 90s. He also related Torres’ story among others. He has appeared several times on e.g. CNN and BBC. Please feel free to visit his website: www.nickpope.net
Between 1991 and 1994, He was posted to a division called Secretariat (Air Staff) and was given the job of researching and investigating the UFO phenomenon, mirroring the work done in the U.S. by the now defunct Project Blue Book. Although most of the cases could be explained as misidentifications of known objects and phenomena, a hard core of sightings defied any conventional explanation.
Unique Access to Files:
His unique access to new data and old government files convinced him that the UFO phenomenon raised serious defence and national security issues. He came across numerous instances where UFOs had been tracked on radar, leading to jets being scrambled. Strong evidence emerged suggesting the presence of structured craft capable of speeds and manoeuvres beyond the capability of even the most advanced prototype craft operated by the Royal Air Force or the United States Air Force.
Terrifying Near Misses:
There were also cases where there had been terrifying near-misses between UFOs and civilian aircraft. All this led him to believe that an extraterrestrial explanation for some sightings could not be ruled out. Through his official investigations into UFOs he was drawn into other mysteries such as alien abductions, crop circles, animal mutilations and ghosts. Although no longer carrying out this sort of work for the government, he continues research and investigation in a private capacity.
Ministry of Defence: MoD
Currently, he works at the Ministry of Defence, which he joined in 1985. He has had many different postings and has undertaken a fascinating series of jobs within the Department, including work in the Joint Operations Centre during the Gulf War, where he was a briefer in the Air Force Operations Room. He has also been involved in work on the crises in Iraq and Afghanistan. He is a Senior Executive Officer, which is a civilian grade equivalent to the military rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Books on UFOs:
Pope has written four books: Open Skies, Closed Minds details his official UFO work, while The Uninvited deals with alien abductions; Operation Thunder Child and Operation Lightning Strike are science fiction novels based on his government work.
Pope has done extensive media work, including the BBC’s Newsnight and Radio 4′s Today programme. He has also lectured all around the world, at academic conferences, museums, military bases and the Oxford Union.
Pope: “I believe that governments and the military, and indeed private researchers, politicians- whoever- should place everything in the public domain on this issue. Governments can’t, I think, have it both ways. You cannot say on the one hand, as the party line often goes, that UFOs are of no defense significance, and then on the other keep back some of the data.”
“You simply can’t do that. You have to have it one way or the other. And if, as governments consistently say when the politicians probe on this issue or when the media inquire, that there’s really nothing to worry about, then okay, let’s see all the data.” More Bio
Here Milton Torres and Nick Pope presents their stories at the annual exopolitical gathering: The X-Conference in April 2009 at the Hilton Gaithersburg in the Washington DC area. Mr Torres was a fighter pilot stationed in England in the 50s. During one of his missions he encountered a huge UFO which appeared to be the size of an aircraft carrier on his radar scope. He was ordered to shoot at it when it suddenly flew away with an incredible speed. Later, he was intimidated by a spook and was told not to talk about the incident to anyone. Later Torres still went public when the British Ministry of Defence (MoD) released some of its UFO files in 2008. He appeared on e.g. CNN and Sky News.
In effect from December 1, 2009, the UK Ministry of Defense terminated its UFO project, ending over 50 years of research and investigation into the phenomenon. The news was slipped out in a way designed not to attract attention, by making an amendment to an existing document in the Freedom of Information section of the MoD website, entitled “How to report a UFO sighting”. The announcement states that “in over fifty years, no UFO report has revealed any evidence of a potential threat to the United Kingdom” and goes on to say that “MoD will no longer respond to reported UFO sightings or investigate them”
Nick Pope`s reaction :
Having worked on the UFO project from 1991 to 1994 I am sorry to see MoD disengage in this way. I believe that where evidence suggests that UK airspace has been penetrated by an unidentified object, this must automatically be of defense interest and should be investigated properly. Indeed, I am sure that as is almost certainly the case in the US, sightings from pilots and uncorrelated targets tracked on radar will continue to be looked at by someone outside of a formally constituted UFO project.
